There are so many players, so many systems, so many ideas, and so few of them are integrated / integratable. How can we decide what to do, what to choose?
I am lucky that I can experiment, but what about others, searching for solutions?

I think we should be glad that things are not too integrated. Integratable is good though – then we can decide what to be integrated ourselves. I.e. modularity, which I am convinced is the way things will be going. This is also the essence of my last post: http://swedishlearningspace.wordpress.com/2007/11/28/modular-is-the-future/
