Yes, decisions in the wanted direction are always welcome, but who decides which is the wanted direction?

It’s hard to understand why the Swedish government is closing down the organisations responsible for encouraging net-based learning (NSHU and CFL) whilst Denmark and Norway are investing heavily in new initiatives. I’m not sure we can develop this field so effectively when no organisation is focussed on the task of encouraging and supporting new initiatives.

The future of schools lies in the implementation of digital learning in order to create a flexible learning environment. The desirable direction is therefore helping schools to develop new pedagogical strategies made possible by net-based learning. In general, educational systems will become more open and allow different learning strategies. This means that education will be more accessible which is crucial for social and economic development. In Sweden’s decentralised system the decisions are taken by politicians and local authorities and they are the ones who have to be convinced about the benefits of implementing digital learning.
